EL PASO, TEXAS – (January 11, 2007) – El Paso-based Hunt Development Group has received New Mexico’s prestigious 2006 National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) top Retail/Hospitality award for the ABQ Uptown development in Albuquerque, NM. The NAIOP New Mexico Chapter gave Hunt the award as part of its 2006 Awards of Excellence, featuring honors for exceptional new developments in seven categories.
This is Hunt Development Group’s second award for ABQ Uptown. In September, the project was named 2006 Project of the Year by the New Mexico Chapter of Certified Commercial Investment Members (CCIM).
Gary Sapp, President of the Southwest Division of Hunt Development Group, said, “This recognition from our real estate development peers at NAIOP is especially gratifying. It's a delight when we can match our development capacity and investment capital with a dynamic market like Albuquerque and with a community vision such as ABQ Uptown. Those dynamics always make something special happen; we’re proud to receive this honor and we share it with the many talented New Mexicans who worked so hard to bring this project to fruition.”
Other developments receiving nominations for the New Mexico NAIOP Retail/Hospitality Award were: Acequia de Corrales Retail Center, Cottonwood Corners III, Plaza de la Sierra, and Sandia Resort & Casino.
ABQ Uptown is the first phase of Albuquerque’s first “live-work-play” hub, a mixed use development featuring upscale retail space, residential units, restaurants, entertainment venues, and a hotel. 225,000 square feet of retail space in an outdoor, “Main Street”, pedestrian environment was completed and opened on November 1st as the first phase.
