HUNT BUILDING COMPANY RANKED NATION'S 23rd LARGEST HOUSING BUILDER
COMPANY IS 2ND IN U.S. FOR RENTAL HOUSING
EL PASO, TEXAS – (May 28, 2009) – Hunt Building Company, Ltd., an affiliate of Hunt Companies, Inc., headquartered in El Paso, Texas, was ranked 23rd largest among the nation's top 350 builders of housing in the 2009 Annual Report on Housing’s Giants issue of Professional Builder Magazine.
The magazine ranks Housing Giants based on revenue, and the listing consists of builders of single-family attached, single-family detached, and rental housing. The Hunt ranking is up 22 places from the publication’s 2008 rank of 45th. Hunt Building’s 7,558 new residential units completed in 2008 are up 3,360 units, or 80%, from the 4,198 rental housing units Hunt completed in 2007.
The Professional Builder’s annual report also names the Top 10 Builders of rental housing in 2008, in which Hunt is ranked #2. Both rankings are the highest ever achieved by Hunt in the magazine’s annual report.
M. L. Hunt, President and CEO of Hunt Building Company, attributed the company’s 2008 increase in housing units built to Hunt’s success within the U.S. military’s public-private venture program. “Providing quality military family housing has long been the mainstay of Hunt Building’s business,” said Hunt. “We have been able to capitalize on our military housing expertise in public-private venture contracts, and these programs were a major factor for us in 2008.” Hunt added that he felt the company’s increase in housing units completed in 2008 was an exceptional achievement in the midst of a severe economic downturn, when the largest housing builders experienced significant decreases in revenue and residential closings. “We are pleased with Hunt Building’s performance in 2008,” said Hunt. “We believe our company and its employees have a great deal to be proud of for what was accomplished in a down year.”
Hunt Building Company has built or is currently constructing over 90,000 housing units across 38 states and has built more military family housing projects in the U.S. than any other entity.
