Hunt Hands Over Keys to New Neighborhood Park
EL PASO, TX – November 5, 2009 – The City of El Paso officially took possession of El Paso’s newest community space, Cimarron Park, in a formal dedication ceremony held at the park today by Hunt Communities. The event was witnessed by Joel McKnight, Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of El Paso, and Ann Morgan Lilly, El Paso City Representative for District 1.
Both McKnight and Lilly praised Hunt for their continued partnership with the City. “We are grateful to community partners like Hunt who make it a priority to create quality neighborhood parks for the benefit of all El Pasoans,” noted Representative Lilly.
A key to the park was presented to the City by Justin Chapman, President of Hunt Communities, as a symbol of Hunt’s and the City’s commitment to creating great neighborhood parks in El Paso. “What we’ve built here at Cimarron is above and beyond what is normally required by the City when it comes to park development, and it is an example of more projects of this caliber that Hunt will be building and donating to the City in years to come.”
Chapman also spoke about plans for the remaining phases of Cimarron which will include neighborhood parks and walking and bike paths. He also discussed plans for the Overlook at Franklin Hills, which is near Cimarron on El Paso’s west side.
Cimarron Park encompasses 3.71 acres, including 1.4 acres of turf. The area includes picnic tables, trash receptacles, 97 trees, 1,500 shrubs, two bicycle racks, and more than 4,000 feet of pathways, including an 11-foot-wide hiking/biking path and 7-foot-wide sidewalk.
