HUNT BUILDING NAMED IN TOP 50
LIST OF NATION’S MULTIFAMILY UNIT
BUILDERS AND OWNERS
EL PASO, TEXAS – ( Sep 25, 2006) – Hunt Building Company, headquartered in El Paso, Texas, was ranked among the nation's top builders and owners of multifamily units by Multifamily Executive magazine and Builder Magazine. The two magazines’ Annual Top 100 issues highlight the country’s largest builders, and name the Top 50 multifamily rental builders as well as the Top 50 multifamily unit owners.
In the rankings, Hunt Building was listed as the 15th largest multifamily builder in the U.S. That rank is based on Hunt’s 2,525 starts of multifamily units in 2005. Hunt was listed as the 27th largest owner of multifamily units, with 24,700 units owned by Hunt Building or its affiliates.
Woody Hunt, Chairman of Hunt Building, said the company’s substantial increase in starts in 2005 vs. 2004 was mainly due to military contracts. “Our company has long been a premier partner with the U.S. Department of Defense for the designing and building of military family housing,” said Hunt. “In 2005, that activity increased, as well as having more opportunities with certain military branches for public-private ventures. That is reflected in the ownership rankings.” Hunt added that his company will continue to pursue military contracts as well as growing Hunt’s public-private venture business. Hunt said, “For over 30 years, our mainstay business has been military housing and base construction contracts. As the Department of Defense moves more toward public-private ventures, we see continued significant opportunities for Hunt in those areas.”
Hunt Building Company, Ltd. is an affiliate company of Hunt Building Corporation. It began its emergence as the foremost builder of military housing in the United States in 1970, and today has built more military family-housing projects in the United States than any other entity. Hunt Building has completed military projects in 38 states, as well as in Puerto Rico and Guantanamo Bay.
Founded in 1947, Hunt Building Corporation and its affiliated companies provide a full range of development, design, construction, investment, and asset/property management services. The companies have been headquartered in El Paso and operated by the Hunt family for four generations. Other Hunt affiliated companies are Hunt Communities, LLC; HBC Land Limited Partnership; HBC Property Managers Limited Partnership; Hunt ELP, Ltd; and Hunt NR, Ltd.
