MountainStar Sports Group (MSSG) was founded in 2012, as a Hunt joint venture with another El Paso family.  MountainStar owns the El Paso Chihuahuas, a Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres.  Season play began in 2014 at  Southwest University Ballpark in downtown El Paso.  In 2018, MSSG acquired a USL Championship League soccer franchise and founded the El Paso Locomotive.  MountainStar Sports Group also invests in FC Juárez, a Liga MX football club.  “Los Bravos” play their home games at Estadio Olímpico Benito Juárez in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico.  The teams are central to Hunt’s overall strategy to improve the quality of life and economic development in the Borderplex region.
