Gary Sapp Retires After More Than 30 Years of Leading Real Estate Development Projects for Hunt Companies

After an exceptional career spanning more than three decades, Gary Sapp, President of Development for Southwest U.S. real estate projects for Hunt Development Group and Executive Vice President of Hunt Companies, Inc., will retire effective May 1, 2023.

Mr. Sapp joined Hunt in 1991 and quickly became a driving force for the development of several award-winning projects throughout his remarkable tenure. His expertise in mixed-use, retail/commercial, and multi-family income properties, as well as his mastery of land investments and master planned community developments in the Southwest which has grown into the Hunt Communities business unit, has yielded over $3 billion in investment real estate transactions.

Under Mr. Sapp's leadership, Hunt brought to life the inspirational 35-acre mixed-use paradise, ABQ Uptown, in Albuquerque - a modern cornerstone of upscale lifestyle retail paired with luxury apartments, groceries, and amenities. As President of Hunt Development Group’s Southwest Division, he also spearheaded the development and completion of multiple luxury multi-family developments in Austin, Dallas, Phoenix and Houston and leaves a legacy of additional development projects that are currently underway in El Paso, Dallas, Austin, and Houston.

“Gary has been an integral member of the Hunt team for over thirty years and played a significant role in the growth we’ve seen during that time,” said Woody L. Hunt, senior chairman of the board of Hunt Companies. “I’m grateful for Gary’s commitment to Hunt’s mission and wish him well in his hard-earned and well-deserved retirement.”

Hunt and their associates would like to extend their sincerest thanks to Mr. Sapp for his invaluable contributions to the organization and the broader community throughout his tenure. His passionate leadership style and charismatic persona will be deeply missed. We wish Gary a happy, healthy, and fulfilling retirement.
