Kaua‘i’s ‘Āhuimanu Now at 98% Leased with Signing of New Eatery Scotty Browns, Hanalei Surf Company

Kīlauea, Kaua‘i, Hawai‘i, Nov. 1, 2021 — Browns Restaurant Group and Hanalei’s Scott “Scotty” Morison have signed a lease to open a restaurant, lounge and social house called Scotty Browns at Kīlauea at ‘Āhuimanu. In addition, Hanalei Surf Company will expand from its original home with a new location at the neighborhood center on the North Shore.

‘Āhuimanu is now 98% leased - up from 53% over the past 20 months, despite the challenging economic environment.

Scotty Browns at Kīlauea will be the first Hawai‘i location for Browns Restaurant Group. Based in Vancouver, Canada, its brands include Browns Socialhouse, Liberty Kitchen, Browns Crafthouse Kitchen & Bar in Canada and Scotty Browns in the U.S.

Morison, Chairman & CEO of Browns Restaurant Group, is now a part-time Hanalei resident. The veteran restaurateur is responsible for restaurant design and every element that impacts the guests’ experience at Scotty Browns, including the music program and menu development.

Scotty Browns are well-known for their signature dishes, drinks and festive atmosphere. Dishes like the Dragon Bowl will be part of the offerings, and ingredients will be locally sourced – from freshly caught fish to produce – to the greatest extent possible.

Located near Kīlauea Market + Café, Scotty Browns will feature an open-concept design where guests may enjoy live music and handcrafted cocktails from top-shelf liquor or local beer.

Browns Restaurant Group anticipates that Scotty Browns at Kīlauea will break ground in early 2022 and open in mid-2022.

Hanalei Surf Company offers Kaua‘i’s largest and most comprehensive inventory of water-sports equipment, both for sale and rent. From surfboards and stand-up paddleboards to the whole array of apparel, accessories and even beach chairs, Hanalei Surf Company is truly a North Shore institution for those who enjoy the ocean or just living the island lifestyle.

Located next to Kīlauea Fine Jewelry, Hanalei Surf Company’s new ‘Āhuimanu location (1,700 square feet) is expected to open in mid-2022.

In the coming months, ‘Āhuimanu will also welcome Kaua‘i Athletic Club (operating as Kīlauea Phys Ed), Avalon Gastropub, Kenji Burger, North Shore Chiropractic Clinic and the real estate companies Hawai‘i Life and Compass Realty.

The 42,000-square-foot center – anchored by the 12,700-square-foot grocery store-restaurant Kīlauea Market + Café – features a mix of businesses and community services. These are mainly established Kaua‘i companies expanding their operations from other parts of the island to better serve customers on the North Shore.

“The Center showcases not only some of Kaua‘i’s most well-established businesses and services, but also a growing community of creative entrepreneurs and artisans. Having both Scotty and the team at Hanalei Surf join us at ‘Āhuimanu further complements the Center’s exciting mix of tenants,” explains Mike Lam, Senior Vice President of Hunt.
